Burdastyle Dress with Flounce 2-2013-128

Or A Quick Little Dress

Hello people,

I am still madly tracing off all the things I like from February 2013 Burdastyle. I had my eye on the gathered raglan sleeve trio. Number 126 has short sleeves, 127 has long sleeves and a slightly longer body to match and then there is Number 128, the dress with the flounce. On the line drawing it looks like the flounce might be too much with the gathers but in reality it's not. It works and is a gratifyingly quick project. link to line drawing

There it is. Made from stash material was an unexpected find at Lincraft last year, a nice quality beefy but not too heavy mystery knit that was well behaved even under the coverstitcher.

p.s. Check out Sigrid's 2-2013-106 Jacket from the same issue. Isn't it exquisite?

Have a good weekend,

Val.

  14. Love it! I wasn't impressed with the flounce in the magazine photo, but I love it on your dress. I'm wracking my brain right now trying to remember if I have something suitable for this is in my stash!

  15. Valerie, you are a temptress I see! Love your new dress. I have so many Burda patterns that I'd like to sew I'm tempted to pay my daughter to do them in the school holidays.

  17. Valerie, I love this dress on you! SO flattering. I have never tried sewing a Burda magazine pattern. All the extra work tracing patterns scares me too much.

  18. I'm so glad you made this. It looks terrific. I traced it out when I was doing the t shirt but had thoughts that it might be overtrimmed - I am now convinced otherwise.
